They have been drawn in Pool A along with Vietnam club Saigon Geckos, who they lost narrowly to 5-3 in a 15 a-side game last month. The third team in the group, who will no doubt add some Gallic flair to the occasion, is inveterate touring side French Asia Barbarians.
Pool B sees top Singapore club side Bedok Kings, whose first team will contest this weekend’s Singapore Guinness Cup, take on the Asian touring team Rhinos and local team Les Piliers d’Angkor.
Former champions Manila Nomads will take on Southerners of Bangkok and Cambodian team Stade Khmer in Pool C. The only grouping with no local representation is Pool D, where Seoul Survivors, Dubai Exiles and Bangkok Bangers will face-off.
The day before the main tournament four veteran’s teams Bangkok Bangers, Unquenchables, Indochine Barbarians and Khmer Yuppies will attempt to relive former glories and play a 15 a-side round robin tournament under Golden Oldies rules.
