Two years to go

Exactly two years today the Rugby World Cup 2011 will kick off in Auckland, New Zealand with the first game being the hosts taking on Tonga.

At this stage confidence is high that this showpiece tournament will be a success and create a lasting legacy for New Zealand and the continued global development of the sport.

A commemorative two years to go book has been produced to mark the occasion. It details operational, logistical and legacy progress to date and outlines the major milestones over the next two years as the global rugby community counts down to the event. It will also give you the schedule of games for the tournament and allow you to start planning that trip of a lifetime.

“The two years to go countdown is a significant operational landmark for what is one of the five largest sporting events in the world. The global Rugby community awaits a tournament that will provide the seventh chapter of the Rugby World Cup story in a country that is totally immersed in rugby’s tradition and culture. It will be an event not to be missed,” said Rugby World Cup Limited Chairman Bernard Lapasset.
